Earl Stephenson was raised on a farm south of Hobart, Oklahoma. His daddy was a bricklayer and farmer. His mom stayed home and raised Earl and his three siblings. Earl and his wife Nancy met when they were in third grade. Earl enjoys all types of sports. He walks over three miles almost every day and occasionally rides his bicycle and plays tennis. During the winter months he enjoys hunting pheasant in Kansas and chasing bobwhite quail in Oklahoma.

Earl began his ministry at Weatherford First Baptist Church on August 5, 2001.  He was licensed to preach in the Washington Street Baptist Church in Hobart, Oklahoma at the age of fourteen and ordained to the ministry at age twenty-one by the same church.  He has served as pastor of the First Baptist Church, Holdenville, Oklahoma (1993-2001); Harmony Baptist Church, Atoka, Oklahoma (1983-1993); Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Hobart, Oklahoma (1979-1980); and pastor of the Bessie Baptist Mission, Bessie, Oklahoma (1977-1979).  He has served as a trustee for Oklahoma Baptist University and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma.

He and Nancy have two grown children – Jason, Lynn and her husband Shane.

Pete Petree

Pete began serving at First Baptist Church on February 21, 2005. He came to Weatherford from First Baptist Church, El Reno, where he served as Minister of Youth for 15 years. At the same time, he was volunteer coach for the El Reno High School football team and chaplain for the El Reno Fire Department. Before starting at the church, Pete taught school and coached in both El Reno and Purcell. His hobbies include fishing, yard work, and about any other outdoor activity.

The son of a former Minister of Education, Pete and his wife, Donna, have one daughter, Angela. She and her husband, Jesse Lesperance, and sons Grady and Gage, live in El Reno.

John Gerber

John Gerber began his ministry at First Baptist Church on October 1, 2002. Prior to coming to First Baptist, he was the choral director at Weatherford High School, a position he held for 22 years.  During his tenure in the public schools he has served as interim minister of music several times as well as church pianist.  John has also served as minister of music at Velma First Baptist, Boise City First Baptist, and Weatherford Emmanuel Baptist Church.

John received the Director of Distinction Award for 2002 from the American Choral Director's association for the state of Oklahoma.  He is also a recipient of the Oklahoma Music Educator's Hall of Fame Award for 2003.  He is on the board of the Oklahoma Choral Director’s Association, and serves as editor of the OCDA magazine.

John holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree as well as a Master of Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with certification in vocal, instrumental, and psychology.

John's wife, Midge, is a recently retired teacher from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  They have two children, Casey, and Courtney, and four grandchildren. Casey, his wife, Christa, and son, Owen, and daughter, Stella, live in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he is on staff at Oklahoma Baptist University.  Courtney, her husband Jeremy, and daughters, Logann and Merritt, live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Andrea Unruh

Andrea enjoys serving as Associational VBS Director, Church Weekday Education Officer and has served on the State VBS Team. Prior to being on staff she taught Public School Music, Children’s Day Out, and she taught in a variety of preschool/children’s ministries. She received her BME at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Andrea has served on FBC Staff for over 15 years in the area of preschool and children’s ministries.

Andrea and her staff seek to minister to preschoolers and children through the Sunday School, Preschool Music/Missions, GA’s, RA’s Children’s Choir, Children’s Camp, Vacation Bible School and a variety of activities throughout the year.

Andrea and her husband Harland have been active members of FBC since 1976. They have two grown children, Max who lives in Thomas, OK and Miranda and husband John, who live in Lemoore, CA.

They live in the country with their two cats Dick and Harry.

Stephen Myers

Stephen began his ministry at Weatherford First Baptist Church on February 6, 2012. He attended SWOSU where he met his beautiful wife Jonna. While in college, Stephen served as an intern at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, where he was licensed into ministry. Shortly after graduation, Stephen and Jonna moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he served as the associate student Pastor at First Baptist Church, Fort Smith. Stephen and Jonna are so thankful to the Lord for bringing them back to Weatherford to serve in this community and this church.

For fun, Stephen enjoys hanging out with Jonna, playing with his dog, Trouser, and watching Thunder basketball.

Stephen’s vision for the Student Ministry is to see students’ lives transformed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He hopes that through studying God’s word as well as student ministry activities, these young men and women would grow into mature, godly, and faithful followers of Jesus.
